BACKGROUND: A global fin-tech company was hosting its annual user’s conference for HR executives and wanted to feature an interactive session on DE&I in the workplace.
TIMELINE: 8 weeks
BUSINESS GOALS: To transform sensitive workplace moments into meaningful conversations while increasing empathy and understanding and helping attendees navigate gray areas with more confidence.
SOLUTION: A 45-minute high-energy live improv show steeped in the language and scenes of workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion with audience suggestions and participation. We scripted several short sets in different formats through which a diverse cast of characters could explore relatable, real-life scenarios in a supportive and inclusive environment. We wrapped it into an intimate cabaret nightclub aesthetic complete with a thrust stage, soft lounge seating, and low lighting.
IMPACT: After word got out about how interactive and engaging the show was, most performances were standing-room only throughout the three days of the conference. The session received high marks on attendee feedback, and it elevated the host department’s image among executives so much, that the department lead was pulled onto the mainstage to interview the closing session keynote speaker Dan Levy.
